Heidi Juvonen and Niko Rantanen claimed the Iskelmämestari titles in Kiuruvesi. The new champions were crowned by the judges' decision. As is typical for a proper competition, several other contenders were also tipped for victory in the pre-event predictions. The competition, which ended in a joyful atmosphere, was a success, and Kiuruvesi can once again breathe a sigh of relief. A long period of hard work is almost complete, and the new champions can now head home singing.

Heidi Juvonen was the runner-up in last year’s Iskelmämestari competition. For Rantas, the third time was the charm—she had previously been the runner-up twice in the same competition.
Nikon’s emotional performance of Joutsenlaulu may have been the key to victory this time. There were moist eyes in the audience, and backstage, tears of joy were wiped away.
