1. Mira Kunnasluoto, you were dancing at the Helsinki Samba Carnival. How long have you been dancing samba?
-
Last year, 2025, was my anniversary year; I celebrated 25 years as a tango queen, which also marked my return from a 13-year break from dance music gigs. The anniversary year also brought with it four new single releases: “I Came to Stay”, “Tango, Tango”, “Aiayeh (Dancing Under the Stars)”, and the Finnish version of the timeless world-famous gospel classic “Oh Happy Day”, titled “On onni tää”.

I got the idea to publish the samba for the Helsinki Samba Carnival with my samba "Aiayeh (Dance with the Stars)". I asked Lahden Samba Maracanã if they were interested in being background dancers for the event, and when the collaboration got the green light, my first experience at such carnivals was amazing. The excitement stayed with me, and this year I also joined the parade on June 13-26 in Helsinki with the group, sambaing in a beautiful samba costume. A wonderful event; a fireworks display of music and colors!

2. How is your singing career going? Do you often perform at dance pavilions?
-
Yes, last year was my return to the dance floors after a long break. Now, I'm taking a short reflective pause as my booking agent changes and new websites will soon be launched. Even as a child, I loved to sing; I feel I am a child of nature and have been gifted with the ability to sing. I don’t read sheet music—I interpret songs from my heart. This summer, you can come listen to me on July 1-26 at the PuistoPiknik event in Nivala, on July 31-26 at Korian Kallioniemi for the Kymenlaakso tango royals' dances, and in October at the Sotkamo Naapurinvaara recreational center.

3.When will you release new music?

Hopefully soon, it would be great to record a slightly different kind of song.
